Basil smiled more. That was the best thing to be done in these situations. When everything looks bad keep smiling. It probably is the only reason he is still alive. Going back? No he was too stubborn to go back to his family to save his life.
"Once we get to a... populated... town you'll have to see my performance!" he said cheerily. He was completely aware that Anela's mood turned to the worst but he wasn't going to let it stay that way. His stomach then growled. Two apples wasn't going to fill him, he knew that quiet well. But now perhaps he won't degenerate as much any more. "Maybe... after I get a more full stomach."
Right now it would be amazing if he got half way through the performance before passing out from exhaustion. Hopefully there will be a stop at a farm. That would be nice. There he could steal some food, or work for it somehow.

Anela gave a little laugh. It was nice to be around someone who could be this cheerful even when they were half starving to death. "I would very much like to see your performance." When he talked about his stomach her initial thought was to give him another of her apples. He probably wouldn't take it right at that moment though so she made herself wait.
The girl reached up to tug a few long brown hairs out of her eye patch again. "I have no idea how they get tucked under it." She said cheerfully, picking up on his own cheeriness. Oddly enough the metal limbs were easier to get used to than the inability to see out of that eye.

He could honestly say he liked her. Not in a romantic way, currently that would be odd. But as a friend, yes. She had to be the first in years for him to consider as a friend. Moving all the time meant he usually didn't get close to anyone. The ones he did get along with were always much younger than him. He smiled again at her wanting to see his performance. That one was going to have to be a special one.
"Hair always gets in the places you don't want it," he said easily. "Especially when it is long." He might have longer hair then she did, in some places. Rather funny that that is true.
Now he was turning the conversation into a demented one. But he didn't plan on making it depressing. It was a mistake that hurt. It was something he learned from and has yet to repeat as badly as the first time.

"It does." she agreed. When she was younger she always tied it back but now she didn't. She was just to self conscious about the eyes patch. Her hair didn't cover the giant piece of cloth but she felt less exposed that way. It seemed that it was about all she did anymore was hide.
"I wonder when the train is going to her here." She said the first thing that popped in to her head that wasn't hair related.
The hair that she had just pulled out of the cloth now decided that it wanted to hang in her face. Apparently it just wanted to annoy her. There was one piece in general that was tickling her nose. She tried to blow it out of her face but it just floated back down to where it was before.
After that she sneezed. It sounded more like a tiny squeak than a sneeze though.

That made him laugh. The train question seemed rhetorical so he didn't respond to it. But her sneeze was more funny than he was. And rather cute for that matter.
He put his finished apple core beside the other one. He then started coming toward her. He pulled out one of his matches and activated the transmutation circle. As the match morphed he reached up to her hair. Basil was working quickly because in seconds he had a feeling she would panic a little. After all, he was once holding a match.
The ignitable tip fell to the ground as the wood shaft transformed into a bobby pin. He then used it to slide back her bangs till they weren't in her face. "There we go." He said stepping back.

Anela blushed a little after he laughed at her sneeze. It was a really weird sounding sneeze. Things like that made her happy as well even when they were embarrassing. It sounded cute and innocent and that wasn't something that she didn't feel much anymore.
At first she panicked a little. Anela almost took a step back but didn't. She wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. He didn't seem like a person that couldn't be trusted.
She did however closer her eyes and wince a tiny bit. Then she felt the wood slide in to her hair and when he pulled back it was still there keeping her hair in place.
The girl opened her eyes and reached up to feel the wooden bobby pin. "Thank you." She smiled at him again.

Basil tipped the brim of his hat. As easy as it seemed for him to invade someone's personal space he always had a fear of being smacked or kicked, or put in some sort of physical pain. It happened far to much for him not to be worried about his actions. But even with his worry... it still happened.
"No more sneezing from you," He said kindly. After a few moments his cheerful selflessness faded. Now it was onto how she reacted.
"I wasn't going to hurt you," he said almost guilty out of taking a cookie from the jar before dinner.

"I'm sorry." She felt guilty now for how she had reacted. She looked forlornly up at him trying to show that she was sincere. That tended to be hard to do with only one eye. "I just get a little edgy."
Anela sighed wishing that her other eye was still intact. That was the part of herself that she missed the most. "Please don't take it personally." She almost begged. It would be just her luck if her general mistrust of strangers hurt someone.
With another sigh she looked up at the sky and spluttered a little bit. The sun was going down already, and still no sign of a train! She was going to be stuck there in the dark.......

"The city of water is too well named for me, this bloody water is going to get me wet, and what the hell does Roy want with this place anyway its deserted!" Robert mumbled as he turned the corner his footsteps would squelch and squish with each step he took. The train station was near and when he reached it he would sort out something to eat. The large bag on his slender shoulder weighed heavily upon him, filled with enough supplies to last him at least 3 weeks, hopefully things wouldn't stretch out that long though. The fact of the matter was that Roy had sent his little brother out to find a 'contact' whom said contact is a mystery the only thing Roy said was "You will know them when you see them." "Great advice there bro sending me ishballa knows where to find someone i don't even know!" Robert edged closer to the train station shuffling his already wet feet through puddles and pools until he caught sight of some people "At last civilization! Perhaps they can help!!" And off he ran toward the two strangers. "Hey!!!!"

He smiled. At least she didn't hit him. That was the good thing. But even if she did he wouldn't hold her to it. He never could do something like that.
"If I took things personally. I couldn't have any friends in my line of work." He said with a smile. "Especially from a cute young girl like you. I wouldn't doubt you would have some bad things to say about me."
However, the conversation shifted. "It's getting dark... I don't think there is going to be a chance of a midnight train either..." He sighed and looked around. Everything had a cold look to it and the ground looked more comfortable then the benches... and possibly cleaner.
Maybe not a midnight train... But a midnight visitor? That suddenly became more probable that he thought as he heard another voice other then them two. Basil quickly turned to a young man, a match was already in his fingers. It was only a precaution. He was armed when Anela came up, he was going to be armed when someone else was too.

Anela jumped at the sound of the voice. Her heart started to thump loudly in fright. The newcomer had come right when she was thinking about it starting to get dark. To the young girl that didn't seem like a very good omen.
She almost shuffled behind Basil a little bit as her paranoia got the best of her. Most likely this person was harmless too. But the timing of his arrival made her nervous. Then again anybodies arrival made her nervous especially any man's.
Even though she was pretty positive that with the way she looked now she would never have to worry about it, it was still something that she feared almost constantly.
Trying to calm herself, Anela shut her eye and took a deep breath. There was no reason to be paranoid when she didn't even know the man. He was probably really nice like Basil. She had found in her travels that most people were nice but still her nervousness wouldn't fade.
This time she did move a little more behind Basil. It might be easier for her to calm down.

Getting closer Robert could just about make out the two figures, and they seemed much the opposite of each other one was tall while the other short, one shy and nervous while the other seemed very astute and aware of his surroundings, Robert could presume such because the tall man did not react as raically when he was approaching. Squish and squelch his shoes did cry as he ran ever closer to the people he presumed to be a couple of some sort, perhaps lovers doomed to be pushed apart by some family feud which had spanned the ages... Nah not quite so in depth probably some stranded couple waiting for the next train to central
"What are a couple of lovebirds like yourselves doing out so late in a deserted city, a forbidden rendezvous perhaps," Forever the fantasist was Robert (for dreams of greatness tend to do that to people) ",or maybe you aren't lovers at all, perhaps you are just stuck in this place as i am!" Robert was flustered now he hated meeting new people but thats because he always came across far too arrogant, but such an image he didn't want to portray because new people were always fun and interesting and making up stories to fit those around you was always so entertaining. He had tried telling Roy of such stories but he was never interested they were always dead weight to him. He'd rather be fixing the corrupted military, but let me ask you what is life without some relaxation? "I'm so sorry where are my manners Robert Luis Mustang is the name but just call me Rob its easier to remember!"

Basil looked back to Anela. Hiding behind him might not be the safest bet. It would only take a few hits for him to crumble to the ground, possibly into dust. All he had was the matches. Despite this he took a defensive step in from of her. If anything he could be used for emotional support.
It sounded as if the man coming toward them was just as wet as he was. This town was really falling apart. "Love birds?" That was the most radical idea he has ever heard. He turned back to Anela almost laughing. Sure, perhaps if they new each other much more than they did he would think about asking her out. But they just met!
"Definitely the second."
Mustang. That wasn't a hard last name to place. Fuhrer Roy Mustang was the first name that popped into his head. Basil tipped his hat, still with a match in between his fingers, and gave a small bow. "Basil the Magician, and this is..." He turned back to Anela wondering if he should go ahead and introduce her.

"Anela....... Hyde." She filled in her own name for Basil. The girl was still in the process of calming herself down. Though the fact that he thought they were a couple made her smile a bit. She wasn't sure how his brain had jumped to that idea
She came out from behind Basil giving the Magician an apologetic look. She wasn't all too fond of military people but there was no reason to think that he was automatically a bad man and her reasons for not liking the military were a little illogical considering she had never even really known her parents. Besides her dad had been a state Alchemist. Therefore there was no reason for her to automatically mistrust any one from the military.

"A magician and a young girl are you two sure you're not a couple? Because I'm sure my father told me something like that once... i can't really remember if it ended well or not. Fairy tales rarely do supply you with a satisfying ending." Robert lowered his bag to the small dry spot near his feet thankfully the city hadn't quite sunk yet although it was well on its way. As he straightened back up he arched back wards and took a deep breath filling his lungs with air. Carrying so many supplies for such a short mission was so stupid maybe it was Roy's way of letting him know he should stay away a while but that seemed very unlikely, his brother was more the sort to outright say these things.
"Well I must say its an Honor to meet you both but maybe i could fix us a better place to chat the floor is too wet here and my food will get wet and soggy rations are no good to anyone" Robert picked a piece of chalk from his pocket and started to draw, quickly and precisely he drew a circle then another and some triangles and then other lines and writing to make a rather ornate symbol, anyone in the know would recognize this type of transmutation circle easily. It was designed to increase the amount of space something occupied by decreasing its density. Robert placed his hands in the circle and closed his eyes, the floor beneath both he and the circle raised a few inches and the water drained from it creating a rather damp but reasonably dry refuge from the water. Robert sat on the floor and pulled close his bag. "Seat anyone?"
