She knelt again and started poking the leg of the shelf. "Wow thats amazing. its like it was never broken." She was to preoccupied with her amazement to give much though to being called Ma'am. " Thank you. oh I guess I should get back to work too." umm ware was I? oh right. here she began humming again putting the books in their rightful place and making sure they where all there.

One more box... and done. He pulled the handkerchief Adi had lent him and wiped the sweat away. The smirked at the cloth as it had hardly any new wets spots now... This work didn't bother him at all he hardly broke into a sweat and his panic attack made it look like he ran a marathon. "Adi, I'm done over here." Now he was paying attention and didn't let his tongue slip.

She peered around the shelf she was working on. "Wow your a fast worker. Well it shouldn't be to long until Mr. Amery Comes back and he can pay you then so feel free to look around for a little bit if you have the time." She switched a couple of books around. how many time did people put books in the wrong place so that they ended up so far from wear the started.

Freedom in a book store... That wasn't the best thing for Russell. He nodded though Adi probably didn't see and he started scanning the shelves. Every now and then he would help her and fix the order of some of the books but that was just out of an annoying itch. Then he layed eyes on a rather old horticulture book.
Well then... even though he was an agricultrual alchemist all of his plant knowledge came from Belsio and from his father's notes. Slowly he pulled the book off the shelf and started flipping through the pages.
And just as he feared would happen. Before Russell knew what happened he was leaning on a bare wall actually reading the book. Thirty times before he told himself to stop but the urge got to great and he forgot.

Finaly! all the books were in order and as far as she knew there was nothing missing. Well except for the book Russell was Reading. A few minuets later the door opened making a small bell ding. Mr. Armery looked around pleased to find the work done and everything in order. He looked around and found the young man he had hired reading a book against a wall. "Found something you like?"

"Yes, Sir!" he said startled slightly, "Sorry sir... I didn't mean to read it..." He had recalled what Adi said earlier about not suppose to be reading the books. He wasn't to worried about it... but he was being polite and apologizing. Quickly Russell closed the book not carring to see what page he was on... It was the middle of the book anyway.
"I finished the boxes, sir... If there is anything else I can help you with I can would be glad to do so..." He pushed himself off the wall and turned slightly to the shelf he had just fixed... Should he bring it up or should he let Adi do it?

" well your a very efficient worker. I believe thats all for today. But next time you need money you come straight here. and I'll put you to work again. now lets see with the number of boxes and the time you put in...oh and I see you fixed that shelf well then that deserves extra. here" He handed Russell the money for the job. It was probably far more than the young man thought he would be getting.

"Thank you, sir!" Russell said happily looking at the money. He wondered if it was because he looked ill or not... But he didn't want to bring it up and be rude. "This is very gracious of you..." Though, being humble couldn't hurt. "But the shelf was no problem, sir." So in a sense he had a part time job here. That would make finding work a lot easier. How late was it now anyway... He hadn't bothered to find his brother all day today.

"Nonsense. Fixed is fixed and I payed you what you earned no more no less. Now as for reading the book you should no better than to read merchandise in a store. So you just going to have to take it with you." The stern look the old man had on his face melted away and humor sparked in his eyes, behind him Adi giggled.

"Wait what?" Russell lost some of the convertation as he was trying to figure out where his brother could be but not enough to miss the gist of the convertation. "I can't accept this... I shouldn't have read the book. I'm sorry..." The sound of him going to apologize for the next hour was not evident in his voice. He was only slightly guilty at that... but how could one be just by reading a book?
This was a lost game he already knew it but he didn't show it on his face. This wasn't charity it was just an act of kindness... so he couldn't deny the book. His eyes shifted from Mr. Amery to Adi behind him, then back to the old man. He was going to lose this 'battle' he knew it.

The old man smiled. " Don't worry about it. that book has been here almost since I opened this store. and considering I had hair back then. that was a long time ago. Its about time someone picked it up. And you shouldn't be sorry. You were already done with the work." Mr. Amery gave Russell another kind smile and walked back behind the counter.

Old people are amusing sometimes... "Thank you, sir." But in a sense that made him feel kind of weird. He's reading a book that has been sitting a shelf for who knows how long... It's something when older people do that... But he was only nineteen and he's reading about farming and plants, stuff that usually retired or farmers only look at. "Are you sure you don't need anything else done before I leave? I don't want another shelf falling on an employee..." He tired as hard as he could to make this a joke but the only sense of humor he usually had was at someone's expense... Like Ed being at least what, 10 inches shorter than him and Russell was the one a year younger?

A raised eyebrow. "another employee?" he looked at Adi " your not hurt are you?"
"No Sir! I'm fine. Really it wasn't that heavy and Russell Dug me out." I was true she wasn't hurt. at least not in Any serious ways just a few bruises. Mr. Amery Sighed. "If you say so." He turned to Russell again as Adi went in to the back of the store for something.. "Thank you for that. Shes a good girl but sometimes She doesn't think things through. I worry about her being alone in the store to tell you the truth."

Russell mentally hits himself in the head. He shouldn't have joked around like that... "The shelf would have fallen on anyoen... it wasn't her doing." He didn't really want to agree that she seemed a little hyper for her own good... But that was a convertation either a. for another day or b. for no day at all. "Well, I should be going to find my brother. Thanks for the job... I'll sure to pay other visit." He shook the book in his hand in a thanking gesture and waited for someone to say something before he left.

Mr. Amery waved good bye as Adi dashed out of the back of the store. "Bye. Good luck finding your brother! oh. and I told you that you would find at least one thing that would interest you here." She smiled broadly again and waved enthusiastically. "... Oh! I promised Mrs. Backwaren that I would pick some things up for the bakery!" She quickly ran out the door and half way down the street before turning around and coming back. "And thank you for all the help and getting the books off of me."
