• French Language: Although it may seem as completely natural for Aurѐlie, others in Amestris do not speak this language. And so, they do not possess this skill that is ‘normal’ to her.Although alone now, she has a mother (Naomi), father (Gѐrard), and younger sister (Ѐmilie).History:Aurѐlie Devereux may seem to live a very happy and joyful life, but underneath her cover hides a past that recons revival if she cannot put the memories behind her. Her life thus far goes as so:
At the age of twelve, Aurѐlie’s life was simple, living with her mother, father, and younger sister. Her father worked in the city while her mother cared for her two daughters at home in a small cottage-like home on the countryside. During the afternoon the two daughters were taught from home. They were also taught how to cook and clean as their mother did. When given free time, the two children often played in a small river near their home. They also enjoyed playing with their mother, acting as though she was the child instead… which often led to the mother chasing them around the house playfully. Each day her father would come home right before the sun dropped beneath the distant hills. Aurѐlie waited on a wooden swing under a large oak tree each day as well, looking to see her father come up the dirt road. Some nights he would bring her home bread from her favorite bakery or a wild rose that he had picked on his way. Dinner was enjoyed by her mother around a circular wooden table. Laughter and talk would fill the small cottage as they ate. Then, once the table was cleaned and the night had spilled in, the two girls settled into bed.
On Aurѐlie’s fourteenth birthday she was given a beautifully aged cello that once belonged to her grandfather. Her mother and father told her that she would be going to school within the city now and that she was to take cello lessons. The young girl was overwhelmed but happy. The following week she traveled into the city by herself for school. The city was extravagant, filled with life and excitement. Flowers adorned windowsills and the cobblestone streets twisted and turned within the maze-like city. It was somewhat magical to the young girl. She came to adore the city and all that created the memories she held from her times within it.
One year had now come and left. Spring was just about over, summer coming just around the corner. School had but one week left before it was done for the summer season. Aurѐlie was finishing her last cello lesson for the season. She left the city with a large smile upon her gentle face. She could not be happier to spend time with her whole family once school was out and her father done with work. Her walk started into a run as she hurried back home. She ran up the dirt road to her home but was stopped in an instant when she saw something odd in the distance. Smoke appeared to be rising from the hill between her and her home. Fear quickly took over her body and she dashed up the hill only to catch sight of a very disturbing picture in front of her. Only a few leaps beyond her stood the very cottage that she had grown up in… the very home that she, her mother, father, and sister had lived, laughed, and shared memories in. The small home was burning to the ground… all of those things being destroyed in a ruble of ashes. Her eyes widened and the flames glistened within them. She could not move… she could not breathe… she could not stand. Her knees gave out beneath her and tears poured onto her cheeks. The heat of the fire lashed out at her. Moments passed and the fire continued to burn the small home to ash.
The next morning came and the sun appeared over the hills. Sunlight shined onto the girl, waking her from a sleep that came from a complete overtake of emotions and sorrow. The girl stood and starred in front of her, not able to shed any further emotion… she simply stood, nothing more. Suddenly a golden light was lit within her. She knew that what had happened could not be changed… she knew she could not stay here. And so, the girl took hold of the only possession she still had, her cello. With only herself to be accompanied by, she decided to travel to Amestris to find a new place to call ‘home’… land where her memories could hopefully fade away. And thus, her long journey began.
Another year had passed before Aurѐlie finished such a largely embarked voyage. She arrived in the capital of Amestris, Central. The year that was spent travelling also seemed as a renewal of the now sixteen year old girl’s mind and soul. She was much more mature and seemed to hold a new outlook on life and every aspect that made it what it was. The morning that she arrived in Central was interestingly unique to her. The people all spoke English for the most part and the entire look of the city was much different than where she was from. She was lucky to have studied the English language while in school, but she knew that actually speaking the language would cause her difficulties. Even now, after being in Central for nearly half a year, she still forgets to speak English and tends to use French words when she talks. She lives with a generous carpenter who gave her a home when she first arrived. But, she is now on the scout for a job and home for herself because she feels that she must not rely on others whom she does not know.
And so, the story of Aurѐlie has come to a new chapter. Her life and experiences will surely be filled with joy and excitement to come.
-NOTE: The region that Aurѐlie came from is mostly unknown to the people of Amestris. This region is very similar to actual France and overall Europe, the language actually being French.
