It was pouring down rain. Most people where either inside or under umbrellas. Lila was neither, She was standing in the street starring hopelessly at a grocery store. She was soaking wet, her hair hung in her face and her cloths clung to her. She shivered as the cold droplets hit her face and arms. Her stomach rumbled and she looked down at it. She had been in central for three days and she hadn't eaten a thing. When she had arrived in this city she had immediately found a nice quiet place to hide where she could watch the people go by. The streets had been so crowded and she didn't have any money to buy any food anyway.
She took a few steps back as people passed by her. She hated the city so much! there were always so many people, and they always kept a better watch on their stuff. How was she supposed to get something to eat. if my sister was here....no! don't start thinking like that! You won't get anything done that way! There was another loud growl from her stomach. She was so hungry.

"Gotta love central..." Brittz mumbled, looking out at the city's skyline, a thick haze lingering over it, then looking back to its streets, bustling with people going around , doing there business, children splashing about in puddles, the rain fallling heavily against the sidewalk. The sky was an deep grey color, hazy and humid. Her blue cloak stood still, wet and clinging to Brittz's figure, but still she kept her hood up, her blonde hair tipped with blue fluttering out ever so slightly as she walked down the streets, watching other people go around whining and complaining for trivial reasons, little kids dancing about, playing and pushing. She had to find Central HQ before she was struck over the head by Fuher Mustang, she had promised she would show up for the sake of helping out and actually doing her job. They claimed they had something new for her to do for once.
She continued walking, ignoring people sideway glances and chatter, normal begging and such. Sheh ad been in such a hurry she didn't bother to stop and grab a bit to eat or cook up somethign as simple as toast. She felt her stomach grumble, angrily telling her to find food before it has an epic battle with the rest of her body. Sighing she stopped at a market that was on the side of the street, buying a few apple and slipping them into her cloak pocket, leaving one in her finger-less gloved hand, and slowly sinking her teeth into, ripping away the apples skin, the ripe taste flooding her mouth. As she stared down at the ground she apruply looked up, the sound of another hungry stomach startling her, her eyes coming in contact with a hungry girl, wet from the rain, staring at a grocery store. She couldn't help but frown, feeling bad for the girl, she had almost walked into her aswell. Taking her other hand she slipped out another apple and taped the girls shoulder.
"Here. Eat this."

She jumped, both up and away from the hand touching her shoulder. When her feet hit the ground with a soft slush as she landed in a puddle, She whirled around to face the person. For a moment she froze Staring at the other girl with large frightened eyes.
She wanted her to take the apple? Just take it? no catch or anything? She took a step backward not liking that this girl was so close. Sister I need you She squeezed her eyes close to hold back tears caused by her fear and thought of her sister. How was she supposed to get anything done when she couldn't even be with in a few feet of people with out being scared out of her wits. Lila Reached her hand foreward for the apple stareing intently at the girls face. She just brushed it when she chickend out and pulled her hand back. She took a few more steps backward and let her gaze drop from the girls face.

Brittz smiled at the girls timidness. She was rather cute and little, and she felt bad when she fell back into the water. Brittz face softened, her blue eyes showing sincerity and a sense of caring. "Go on, take it. I won't hurt you a I Promise." She said, continuing to hold the apple out for her. She was curious to if the girl was homeless, or if she had a home but couldn't afford food. But seeing as to have timid the girl was, she had a feeling she wouldn't answer her if she were to ask.
Brittz continued to smile, her face soft and welcoming, but yet she had a feeling the girl wouldn't come closer. There must be another reason besides being timid, perhaps she was slightly skitzafranic or was abused. She didn't know. She noticed the girls gaze go down to her feet, and realized its going to take a little while before she gets to HQ, seeing as she didn't want to leave the girl here alone.
"I won't hurt you," She repeated her voice soft.

her stomach rumbled again and she let out a small whimper. Three days with out food wasn't good for a person. she was surprised that she was still standing. The words I'm not going to hurt you, they threw up an automatic alarm in her head. But the girl was probably only trying to sound nonthreatening. In fact to any normal person taking the apple wouldn't have been such a big deal.
Lila shuffled forward a few steps before coming to a halt. Regardless of what the girl intentions were she needed to eat. If she starved to death who would save her sister from that man? Her hand reached forward again, she was shaking but she had to do this. Every nerve in her body was on edge as the terror rose higher. She grasped the apple and took it from the girl almost immediately flying backward to her previous spot. On her way there she tripped on her own feet and fell backward lading on her butt. Fortunately there was no way she could have gotten even wetter because she landed another puddle.

Brittz smiled when she took the apple, happy that the girl finally took it, feeling slightly happier. "There you go,"But when she fell back her face went blank again. "Oh...are you okay? Your really wet..." She said, watching the girl land in another puddle. She felt a wave of sadness hit over her, feeling bad for her. She knew the girl wouldn't come close to her though, and she didn't want to touch her for fear it may set of alarms in her head and make her terrified. But...she was an Alchemist, rearranging the molecules in the water to evaporate into air was a simple enough task. She clapped her hands together and and pressed them slightly against the puddle that she sat in, the water slowly evaporating in the puddle and on the girls clothes, drying her slightly. "There...that's ab it better now isn't it?" She said in a soothing voice, trying to calm her, but knowing it didn't help much. She took off the hood to her cloak and slowly took of the cloak, performing the same alchemy that dried up the puddle to dry the cloak, and she handed it to the girl. "Here...you can wear this, it will keep your dry and warm..." She said again in a calming voice.
Brittz stood up tall again, thinking. If she could get this girls trust she could bring her to HQ with her until the rain stopped, and then...then what? If she had a home she could bring her there...but if she didn't what would she do? "I know your scared of me...you don't need to answer...but...where is your family? or your home?"

Lila merly stared at the girl as she began to evaporate the water. Of course, She didn't only have to deal with a person she had to deal with an alchemist. What had she done to deserve this? The girl then took off her cloak and handed it to her. She took it hoping that the girl was going to back up sooner if she did. She did have to admit she was cold though and she had been very wet.
Maybe she was going about this the wrong way. Perhaps she should just cooperate with the girl and then the girl would feel that she had dome her part by helping hungry wet person and would leave faster. 'I know your scared of me...you don't need to answer...but...where is your family? or your home?' that was a question she did not want to answer but she still thought that her new cooperation strategy might be the best way to get the girl to leave faster. She was much warmer now although she was still shaking, but there were very few times when she wasn't shaking in a city. So many people! Well she would have to talk to cooperate. "My...My family isn't here." Her voice was tiny but she was certain the girl could hear it. The statement was true her family wasn't in central. Her sister was in another town and her parents were dead. she had to ignore the other part of the question because her home was nowhere.

She saw the girls eyes as she started to use her Alchemy, and knew many people took alchemy and it's use as a curse, thinking of it as evil for all the evil people who used it and twisted it, hurting people. Then there were always the State Alchemist used as human weapons in Ishbal. But it wasn't always a bad thing, not always with evil and heartless intentions. She smiled as the girl took her cloak, hoping she was a little warmer, but she still was shaking. Brittz backed up slightly, giving the girl enough room to breathe. She had a feeling the girl didn't want her here, but the city was no place for a young girl to be cowering.
"My...My family isn't here."
Brittz nodded and bit her lip, thinking. The girls voice was very tiny and scared, she knew she didn't enjoy her presence, and she believed that she must be suffering of schizophrenia or abused, she was very shaky and iffy, not exactly with it. "Well....I know your really don't want me here, but can I at least buy you something else to eat? Or take you home? Or something?" She asked, hoping for another reply. The girl looked so helpless and...she didn't want to hear about her getting hurt or dying when she could have helped her. but it was getting late, she was either gonna have to sneak into HQ unnoticed and pretend she was there the whole time, or not go at all, and the not going at all really seemed to call to her as a good idea, even though she rarely did show her face there.

'Well....I know your really don't want me here, but can I at least buy you something else to eat? Or take you home? Or something?' OK so the first question she was going to ignore. Another rumble issued from her stomach but she ignored that as well. As for the second question, If she told her she had no home the girl was likely to want to do something more for her and it would be a long time before she went away. If she told her a place the girl would want to ensure that she got home safely. Either way she was going to have to deal with her some more. She didn't want to tell the girl to just go away for two reasons. The first was that the girl was only trying to help for whatever reason. It wasn't her fault that Lila was afraid of everyone. The second reason was that she didn't want to risk angering the girl, city people were so violent.
She shivered again at the thought and looked up at the girl. "I...my home is....well" she looked down again still unsure of how to answer the question. "I'm fine really." the lie was obvious and she knew it but it was the only thing she could think of to say. She opened her mouth to add on to make it seem more believable but was interrupted by a harsh cough erupting from her throat. It was a few minuets before the coughing stopped and when it did she felt extremely dizzy.

The silence seemed to last a while before the girl spoke again, she was obviously watching her words and thinking things fully before she responded. Brittz didn't quite blame her, she was, after all, a stranger. But all she was doing was offering her help and assistance. There wasn't much she could do to help if the girl didn't want it, and she didn't want to frighten her and more then she had already. The sound of bullets against the sidewalk echoed in her ears as the rain continued to fall, heavy and steadily, sending shivers down her spine. Without her cloak she had just a simple black wife beater on, as well as her black fingerless gloves. She crossed her arms, pretending the cold air that wrapped around her skin so tight, the bullets of cooling rain, didn't bother her.
"I'm fine really."
The tiny voice spoke up again, this time a sweet lie to her ears, confirmed by the musical chorus of her coughing, hacking. She knelled down again, keeping her distance, as she looked at the girl. The coughing died down soon enough, and the girl looked slightly sick. "Your not fine. That coughing sounded horrible...you shouldn't be out in the rain like this...your going to get sicker then you might be already..." Brittz said calmly, trying to keep her tone low. "If you don't want me to buy you any food, or take your home, or anything of that sort that's fine, at least let me take you inside somewhere until the rain stops. Do you usually cough that hard?" she asked, genuinely sweet and caring. The girl looked so helpless and scared...she knew she was just scaring her more, but she didn't want to leave her there to get hurt or picked up by some strange man...

She needed to get somewhere ware she could think she needed to rest probably and she needed some food. She was still dizzy and the girl was still here. Why was she so determined to help her? They didn't even know each other. She couldn't take it any more She couldn't deal with both the dizziness and the fear and since she couldn't get rid of the dizziness she would have to get rid of the fear.
"I'm sorry i have to go." She stood up quickly and her head spun as she headed toward the alleyway she had come from. When she reached the wall she rested her head against the cold surface. It didn't help, slowly she sank to the ground as everything went black. Trying to run away had been a bad idea. now anything could happen and she wouldn't no until it was too late. With that thought she tried to stand up again but only succeeded in falling over before losing the rest of her consciousness.

Would it ever stop raining. It was annoying when it started and it was still annoying. Perhaps it did stop at some point. But with the life he lived he wasn't outside very much. Though, the start of that day didn't start out in rain. But it sure did end in it. Now it seemed to rain ever sense.
Russell Tringham rushed down the streets with his hoodless jacket hanging over his head and a set of rolled newspapers in the other. At least now he wasn't getting too wet. He was amazed that his last adventure in the rain didn't get him sick. Getting sick right afterward would be quiet disappointing.
The streets were the same as always people running this way or that the same as the farm boy was. Some where smart enough to have umbrellas. But he wasn't planning to be out in the rain long. Of couse, what he plans usually wasn't what was going to happen.
Because of the rush through the streets people don't usually pay all to much attention to those around them. All Russell knew was the sudden pain in his shoulder and being pushed around in a circle. Just because it didn't hurt now... didn't mean that no pain will come from it again. The newspaper he held fell into a puddle as he wrinced from the pain. The man that ran into him gave a quick apology and then went back to rushing.
Great. It had his name in it and everything and it's now in a puddle. The ink that was on the page ran and the paper became a soppy mess. He bent down to pick it up and as it ripped in his fingers he saw something that instantly told him to run.
A girl was leaning on the wall. He had the thought to just walk away. Last girl he tried to help didn't want his help and he was shot at repeatedly... One succeeding on hitting him. But when she fell to the ground he couldn't ignore it.
The roads weren't that busy today, which was a good thing or else Russell might have been hit. Sure, he looked but not very well as he rushed across the street and to the alley that the girl had fallen in. Not thinking he knelt right in a puddle as he lifted her off the ground.
"Hey! Are you ok?" Talking to an unconsious person... one would think he was insane but that wasn't his plan. Waking her up was his plan. "Hey!"

Maybe when she woke up she would find that the past few years of her life had all been a dream.... No such luck. Her stomach gave a hungry pang and her body ached. It was freezing cold and droplets of water hit her face. Maybe if she just layed there long enough she would just die and get it over with. Lila sighed mentally sh knew she couldn't do that she had to save Rina.
'Hey!' She dimly hgeard the voice above her. It was probably that girl again didn't she know when to give up. Lila opened her eyes, but it wasn't the girl this time it was a boy.
She gave a startled jump and tried to pull away from the arms holding her up but only succeded in creating a coughing fit that shook her body so hard it hurt.

Perhaps it was rude of him but he couldn't help but laugh at her reaction. How scary could he look? Sure, it was dark and it was bad weather. It seemed that all bad stories dealing with young women started out that way. But did he look like he was one of those guys? Maybe he shouldn't think to much on it after all... Russell has been known to convince himself that everyone and everything was against him.
"Calm down," he said with a small laugh, "I'm not going to hurt you." But if the girl wished to run off he wasn't going to stop her. He had the feeling that she wasn't going to get far if she tried though. Already she was passing out from hunger. And it seemed that she was catching the cold he was trying so hard to not get.
This girl... why was she starving herself? Russell had not seen the prior engagement that Lila had. "Are you alright?" He asked after her coughs died enough for him to be heard. A small part of him was telling him that he should just walk away now... he's going to end up shot. It was probably going to be a fear of his for a long while. But not one serious enough for him to follow it. Sticking with danger, he seemed to be good at it. Nash also seemed to be one drawn to danger... must be hereditary.

She wasn't alright she knew it. It was Finlay time to admit defeat. She shook her head sadly, but she didn't have the energy to be very afraid at the moment. There was nothing she could do to get away from him anyway, her arm wouldn't even lift. Her Stomach growled again. She wished she hadn't dropped the apple the girl had given her.
She took a deep breath and coughed some more. Tears welled up in her eyes. It hurt so badly! She wanted so much to close her eyes and reopen them in the garden out back. She wanted to see the bright sunshine and feel the softness of the grass and the life in soil. But the only things here were cold cement and human filth. She felt like dieing each time she took a lungful air.
Lilas eyes were still wide and she still hadn't taken them off of the boy supporting her. What did he want?
